What it's about
Miles Morales is a Black and Puerto Rican teenager from Brooklyn, bitten by a genetically altered spider just as the Ultimate Universe loses its Peter Parker. With his parents, his best friend Ganke and an uncle who is not what he seems, Miles has to decide whether to take up a dead hero's name.
Why it matters
Miles became one of Marvel's most important characters within a decade: the lead of the Oscar-winning Spider-Verse films, the star of Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales (2020) and Marvel's Spider-Man 2 (2023), and the Spider-Man of a generation. See Miles Morales and Miles Morales (Spider-Verse films).
