What it's about

Across the multiverse, the Inheritors, a family of ancient hunters led by Solus, are killing every Spider-person they can find. Among them is Morlun, who first came for Peter in 2001. Spider-Men, Spider-Women and stranger Spider-heroes from dozens of worlds band together, and nobody is safe.

Why it matters

Spider-Verse turned the idea of many Spider-people into a franchise. Its tie-in Edge of Spider-Verse #2 introduced Spider-Gwen, now one of Marvel's most popular characters, and the event helped inspire the animated Spider-Verse films. See Gwen Stacy (Ghost-Spider, Earth-65) and Miguel O'Hara (Spider-Man 2099, Earth-928).
