What it's about (no spoilers)

Four years after the spell at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) made the world forget Peter Parker, Peter is protecting New York on his own. He has chosen not to reintroduce himself to MJ or Ned, and the police know him only as the masked man who helps out. When someone who can possess other people starts breaking into the Department of Damage Control's facilities, looking for something called V-Max, Peter is pulled into a conspiracy, just as his own powers start changing in ways he cannot control.

How it ends (spoilers)

The telepath is Jean Grey (Sadie Sink), a teenager searching for her sister, Sara, a telepath Damage Control had taken. Its director, Bill Metzger (Tramell Tillman), was experimenting on telepaths, and Sara died in Damage Control's custody.
Peter's powers evolve: he wakes up with sharper senses and organic webs. After he loses control in a fight, Bruce Banner helps him build an inhibitor like the one that keeps the Hulk in check.
In the final fight at a Damage Control facility on Roosevelt Island, Peter takes off his inhibitor, beats the Hand and stops Jean from killing Metzger. Frank Castle shoots at Jean from a distance, Peter takes the shot to protect her, and Jean keeps him alive.
At the end, Jean leaves the city, Metzger disappears and Damage Control is investigated. At May's grave, Peter promises to stop doing everything alone, and Ned finally recognizes him.
The post-credits scene: Ned's Spider-Man tracking app picks up a sighting that is not on Earth.

What comes next

Sony and Marvel Studios have not announced another Tom Holland film. Producer Amy Pascal said in August 2026 that the studios want Destin Daniel Cretton to direct again, but no deal, cast or date has been announced. The next Spider-Man film with a date is the animated Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, on June 18, 2027, and Holland is not on the announced cast of Avengers: Doomsday, which opens December 18, 2026 (our sister site tracks it: Avengers: Doomsday).
