Peter Parker (classic Spider-Man)

The original Spider-Man at his peak: an adult Peter with decades of experience against almost every kind of opponent Marvel has. Every other version on this page is measured against him.

Marvel Comics, Earth-616. Debut: Amazing Fantasy #15 (1962).

Against the 49 opponents on this site, Peter Parker is favored in 25 fights, a toss-up in 11, the underdog in 7 and a long shot in 6. Against the whole original Sinister Six at once: 16%. Against all six one after another: 6%.

About this Spider-Man

Peter Parker was created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko in Amazing Fantasy #15 (1962): a Queens teenager bitten by a radioactive spider, who learned after his Uncle Ben's death that his power came with responsibility. Over six decades he has been a student, a photographer for the Daily Bugle, a teacher, a scientist and an Avenger. His flagship series, The Amazing Spider-Man, reached its thousandth issue in 2026, written by Joe Kelly.

Fight rules: both fighters at their peak, no preparation, no allies, only their own powers and personal gear. A win is a knockout, a restraint they can't escape, or a forced surrender. The percentages are fan estimates, not official information.

Powers

Lifts about 10 tons at baseline; the Marvel Database lists roughly 15 tons after a mutation in the Queen storyline and about 20 after The Other. Reflexes and speed far past any athlete, unrivaled agility and balance, wall-crawling, and a precognitive spider-sense that warns of danger in time to dodge gunfire. He walks away from hits that would kill an ordinary person.

Gear

Self-built web-shooters and web fluid strong enough to hold most superhumans for a while (it dissolves in about an hour), spider-tracers, and a scientist's mind that improvises tools mid-fight.

Signature feats

Lifted tons of machinery off himself in a flooding vault (ASM #33, 1966). Stopped the Juggernaut by steering him into wet cement (ASM #230, 1982). Slugged the herald Firelord into defeat (ASM #270, 1985). Beat Morlun by dosing himself with radiation so the Inheritor poisoned himself feeding (ASM vol. 2 #35, 2001). Tricked the Phoenix-powered Colossus and Magik into knocking each other out (Avengers vs. X-Men #9, 2012).

Weaknesses

He holds back his strength against most opponents. Spider-sense gives no warning of Venom or Carnage, and little against purely mental attacks. Civilians and loved ones are the lever villains pull.

Fighting style

Unorthodox and relentless: constant motion, banter to provoke mistakes, webbing as both weapon and terrain, and the Way of the Spider, a martial art he built with Shang-Chi's help while his spider-sense was gone (2011).
